The NYSBJJ Federation operates on a single elimination system, which adheres to the official CBJJ rules. Medals will be awarded to athletes achieving first, second and third place in each division. A competitor can win a match by submission, points, advantage or referee's decision. Advantage is determined by aggressiveness in submission attempts, take down attempts and superior positioning.

Each academy can have unlimited athletes in the same division (of age/weight/belt). If your academy has questions, please call 516-322-7509. Before each fight, athletes will be asked to show their NYSBJJFederation IDs to the officials. Please do not forget to bring it.
